Reginald D Hunter is one of the UK comedy scene’s best-known performers for his distinctive take on subjects including race and sexuality. He makes regular appearances on comedy panel shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Have I Got News For You. In 2015 he filmed BBC2’s enormously popular Reginald D Hunter’s Songs of the South, followed by Song’s of the Border, where he takes a road trip through the musically rich Southern States. Having initially travelled to the UK at the age of 27 as a theatre student training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Reginald became a comedian after performing his first comedy set as a dare. He received £100 for this. Realising that he enjoyed performing comedy, Reginald turned his attention from acting to stand-up.
Reginald was nominated for the Perrier Award in the 2002, 2003 and 2004 Edinburgh Festivals, and won the Writers’ Guild Award for Comedy in 2006 for his show Pride & Prejudice… & Niggas.
